Metals Convert API: XAU Ounces to USD
A metals convert API multiplies an amount in one metal or FX code by a live rate and returns result as JSON — so you do not invert /api/latest yourself. On Metals-API that is GET https://metals-api.com/api/convert with query access_key, from, to, and amount. Gold as ISO metal is XAU (troy ounce). Symbol pages also show from=USD&to={{symbol}}&amount=100.

Same path as any other pair. Do not mix ISO XAU with LBMA codes (USDLBXAUPM, …). If you called /api/latest?base=USD, rates.XAU is ounces per 1 USD; rates.USDXAU is already USD per ounce — convert exists so you can skip that mental invert.

Documentation publishes this GBP→JPY sample (amount 25). The XAU→USD call uses the same keys — copy the live result from your key, do not invent a gold print here.
